Emirates, one of the world’s fastest growing airlines, now provides Victorian travellers with more convenient connections to the Middle East and Europe with today’s launch of a third daily flight from Melbourne, non-stop to Dubai.

EK409 joins the existing direct service EK407 to Dubai and the EK405 via Singapore, and will depart Melbourne daily at 2.55am, arriving in Dubai at 10.10am the following day.
Dean Cleaver, Emirates Victorian, South Australian, Tasmania and Northern Territory Sales Manager, said, “Emirates’ first Australian destination was Melbourne, in 1996, and Emirates remains committed to this market, now offering the community three travel options a day.”
“This third daily flight has been launched to cater to increased passenger demand for additional flights. Capacity will increase by 1800 inbound passenger seats to Melbourne each week.”

“Victorians travelling overseas can now enjoy better connections and increased departure time options to Emirates’ extensive route network which consists of 101 destinations worldwide. Emirates has 22 European destinations, offering greater convenience with options such as Istanbul, Athens and Milan which are less frequented by other international carriers.”

Emirates will operate its new Victorian non-stop service to and from Dubai with its state-of-the-art Airbus A340-500. This offers passengers 12 luxurious First Class Private Suites, 42 seats in Business Class and generous space for 204 passengers in economy.

Passengers in all classes will enjoy meals prepared by gourmet chefs, award-winning service from its international cabin crew recruited from over 100 countries, as well as Emirates’ cutting-edge in-flight entertainment system ice (information, communication, entertainment), which offers a selection of over 600 channels of entertainment on demand, as well as the ability to send and receive email and text messages from personal in-seat entertainment systems.

The launch of the third daily service in Melbourne coincides with an increase to double-daily services for Emirates in Brisbane and the introduction of the A380 on the Dubai to Sydney and onto Auckland route three times a week. Emirates also operates a double daily service between Perth and Dubai.
