Although still in construction, the Yas Island track has stolen the spotlight at this week’s 2009 Arabian Travel Market (ATM).

The track will hold the inaugural Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this November 1, the final round of the 2009 FIA Formula One World Championship.

Expressing his excitement was His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Emirates, who opened the show.

He said, “I look forward to seeing the action on November 1” after receiving a briefing on the project from Ahmed Hussein, Deputy Director General, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) and Paul Bell of Aldar Hospitality.

A model of the track being built by Aldar in the UAE capital and seven property developments on the island is on display in the Abu Dhabi pavilion.

This year’s ATM is being held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre until Friday, 15 May 2009.
