Recently Appointed General Managers
AccorHotels is pleased to announce the following new General Manager appointments in Australia:
James Ferguson has been appointed General Manager at Quay West Suites Sydney, effective 26 November 2018. James brings a wealth of industry experience, working in the field for over 25 years. In 1992, James began working at Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa where he worked across multiple departments in roles such as Director of F&B, Director of Rooms, Executive Trainee, Director of Services and Front Office Manager. James’ first role as a General Manager was in 1997 at The Sebel Melbourne Flinders Lane and since then has held General Manager positions at Mirvac’s Calypso Plaza, Courtyard By Marriott Great Barrier Reef Resort, Melbourne Marriott Hotel and Brisbane Marriott Hotel. Since 2014, James has held the General Manager position at Novotel Sydney Manly Pacific Hotel.
Dylan Cole has been appointed General Manager at Novotel Sydney Manly Pacific, effective 19 November 2018. Dylan started with AccorHotels in 2007 at the former Swiss-Grand Resort & Spa as Operations Manager. He then gained an Executive Assistant Manager role at the former The Menzies Sydney in 2011 and for four months he seconded into the General Manager position at ibis Sydney Darling Harbour. In 2014, he was appointed General Manager at Harbour Rocks Hotel Sydney – MGallery by Sofitel. Since 2016, Dylan has held the Hotel Manager position at Novotel Sydney on Darling Harbour.
Scott Grant has been appointed General Manager, Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort, effective 22 October 2018. Scott started with AccorHotels in 2006 as Food & Beverage Manager at Mercure Resort Great Keppel Island, and has continued to grow since then. In 2007, he moved into his first General Manager placement at Novotel & ibis Alice Springs which led him to take on Executive Assistant Manager at The Menzies Sydney, and then Hotel Manager at Novotel & ibis Darling Harbour, two of Sydney’s largest hotels. Following this, Scott held General Manager roles at Mercure Canberra and Ibis Mackay.
Tim Cannon has been appointed General Manager at Novotel St Kilda, effective 27 August 2018. With an extensive Rooms Division background, Tim started at The Little Nell in Aspen Colorado in 2005. In 2007, Tim joined The Westin Sydney as Assistant Manager. Tim was promoted to Senior Assistant Manager in 2011 and then Front Office Manager in 2012. Tim then became a part of the pre-opening team at Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane in 2013 as Rooms Division Manager, before moving into his most recent role as Executive Assistant Manager at Mercure Sydney, where he has also assisted with General Manager secondment roles at various hotels.
