Hosted by GM of The Rees Hotel Mark Rose and wine legend and owner of Quartz Reef, Rudi Bauer, guests can try an outstanding array of wines. Rudi’s Austrian heritage and two decades of winemaking experience give Quartz Reef wines further dimension and variety. The Pinot Noir is the spirit of Central Otago while the Pinot Gris takes on a rich, dry, textured flavour.
Quartz Reef is situated in one of New Zealand’s top wine regions – Central Otago and was named in Dish Magazine’s Top12 New Zealand Sparkling Wines and has received rave reviews from Gourmet Traveller Wine, NZ Herald and the Australian Financial Review to name a few.
The winery’s farming philosophy is based on a method of organic farming originally called Biodynamics, eliminating chemicals and sprays and allowing them to make wines with minimal intervention, which express the season, site and environment in which they’re grown. The wines served on the night include:
Plus a surprise wine will be served which has never been released before.
True South Dining Room’s mouthwatering menus use New Zealand flavours with French and English fusion recipes and fresh, seasonal produce sourced from local suppliers. Patrons will delight in dishes cooked by True South Dining Room’s Executive Chef Ben Batterbury.
Ben’s signature style blends sophistication, creativity, innovation and a sense of surprise. His culinary creations have earned him numerous awards including, most recently, HM Magazine’s Award for Hotel Chef of the Year 2017 (Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific). He has received praise in Cuisine Magazine, The Australian, Sydney Morning Herald and National Geographic Traveller UK.
