Flight review Norwegian DY7006 JFK-ARN Premium Class 7 September 2017

Carrier: Norwegian Air Shuttle

Flight Number: DY7006 dep JFK @ 23:30

Duration: 7h40m

Class: Premium Class

Aircraft: Boeing 787 Dreamliner

Check-in experience:

Norwegian has a dedicated Premium Class counter at New York-JFK, helping to streamline the check-in experience for passengers flying at the front of the plane. Premium passengers have access to the Alitalia lounge in Terminal 1 and have priority boarding. Two checked bags max 20K each are included in the Premium fare. Very important given the busy Security area of JFK’s Terminal 1, Premium passengers also have priority Security screening.

On-time performance:

The aircraft pushed back from the gate at 23:50 and took off at 00:10. The plane landed at Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport 14 minutes ahead of the scheduled 13:10 arrival on 8 September.

Seat/Cabin conditions:

Happy and smiling flight attendants set the mood as soon as passengers stepped into the plane. Norwegian’s Premium Class cabin has four rows in a 2-3-2 configuration; there are four additional Premium Class seats at the back of the cabin, two on each side next to the windows. The cabin was immaculately clean. Spacious overhead bins easily accommodated carry-on bags. The seat was a revelation; expecting it to be something closer to an Economy Class seat with a bit more legroom, the Norwegian Air Shuttle Premium Class seat on its Dreamliners is much closer to a Business Class seat found on more expensive airlines. Though not a lie-flat bed in the fully reclined position, the deep recline still allows for a very comfortable sleep. And yes, there is more legroom, too.

Food And Beverage:

A selection of soft drinks was presented before departure. Premium Class passengers have a meal included in their fare; on this flight, that was a deconstructed prosciutto and cheese roll appropriately served toward the end of the trip rather than the start. Other food and beverages are available for purchase during the flight.

Entertainment:

Premium Class seats have individual video screens to enjoy an array of audio and visual entertainment. A large selection of films, television series, and music is available throughout the flight.

Arrival:

The flight landed 14 minutes early. A long wait at Immigration was compensated by having the bags already on the carousel by the time passengers were through. Arlanda Airport has one of the most efficient airport-city centre rail connections in the world; the Arlanda Express train takes all of 20 minutes and delivers travellers right to the heart of Stockholm, within walking distance of many hotels.

Overview:

Though much emphasis in the media is placed in Norwegian‘s ultra-low fares in Economy Class, it also offers a Premium Class at a far lower price than a standard Business Class fare. Norwegian Air Shuttle is the fastest-growing airline in the world, introducing trans-Atlantic routes at a phenomenal pace. From JFK, nonstop flights to Oslo, Stockholm, and Copenhagen are complemented by others to London, Paris, and several Caribbean destinations. The airline is expanding in every direction possible, adding more trans-Atlantic flights between 16 US cities and multiple cities in Europe as well as flights between London and Buenos Aires. Of interest to Asia-Pacific travellers in particular is Norwegian’s new service between Singapore and London beginning 28 September to complement existing service to Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Oslo from Bangkok. Expect to see more of Norwegian’s distinctive red noses and tail fin heroes on tarmacs across the world.
