Qatar Airways and State Theatre Company take to the skies
Qatar Airways has signed on as the State Theatre Company South Australia’s first International Airline Partner. The announcement was made at the Opening Night of State Theatre Company’s The 39 Steps last night.
Qatar Airways, which launched its international flights to Adelaide in May this year, has committed to support State Theatre Company both through facilitating international collaborations and supporting productions in Adelaide in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
“Qatar Airways’ sponsorship of State Theatre Company is a natural extension of our commitment to the people of Adelaide and South Australia. As we continue to grow our presence in the South Australian market, this multi-year partnership with the state’s flagship professional theatre company provides us the opportunity to further engage with the community and art-lovers alike. We also look forward to taking the State Theatre Company to greater heights in the international arena, leveraging our strength as a global connector to facilitate partnerships between State Theatre Company and the rest of the world,” said Qatar Airways Country Manager for Australasia, Mr. Adam Radwanski.
The partnership reflects both companies’ commitment to offering experiences of the highest quality and promoting Adelaide as an international destination for artists and art-lovers. It also reflects State Theatre Company’s burgeoning international connections, particularly through Qatar Airways’ support for State Theatre Company’s co-production with UK theatre company Frantic Assembly of Things I Know To Be True, a South Australian story that will have its UK premiere in September. This is the Company’s second international collaboration in two years and follows up the hugely successful tour of its co-production with Windmill Theatre of Pinocchio to New York last year and aligns with the State Government’s active promotion of arts exports.
State Theatre Company Executive Director/Producer Rob Brookman said, “Partnering with Qatar Airways was a natural fit. As we are taking our first steps onto the international stage, so are Qatar Airways pioneering their new route from Adelaide and building ties here in South Australia. Their support not only assists in bringing brilliant shows like The 39 Steps to the Adelaide stage but also makes it possible for us to connect State Theatre Company with the world.”
The partnership with State Theatre Company extends Qatar Airways’ high-level support of the arts in Australia, as demonstrated through existing partnerships with Melbourne Theatre Company, Perth International Arts Festival and Adelaide Fringe Festival.
As part of the agreement, Qatar Airways will receive prominent branding on a wide range of State Theatre Company’s assets. The airline will also be able be provide a variety of interesting hospitality options for its partners and guests.
Now in its 19th year of operations, Qatar Airways has become one of the fastest growing carriers in the world. A multiple award-winning airline, Qatar Airways currently offers nonstop international services from Adelaide to Doha, connecting South Australians to more than 100 destinations in Europe, Middle East, Africa and the Americas. Adelaide is the fourth Australian city in Qatar Airways’ fast-growing global network after Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. It is also the first Australian city to receive the world’s newest commercial aircraft – the Airbus A350 – which promises outstanding levels of passenger comfort in the sky.
