Western Australians are eagerly awaiting the launch of Perth’s first A380 service, with the Emirates Airbus A380 aircraft set to arrive on Friday.
Just days away from the launch, Emirates has shared its top facts about the A380 aircraft and revealed details about the new service.
The airline has announced Captain Steve Darnell, Perth-born pilot of over 19 years, will be among the crew flying in on the inaugural flight from Dubai to Perth.
To mark this new chapter, Emirates has also shared its top facts about the A380 aircraft.
Emirates was the first airline to order the aircraft and is currently the world’s largest operator of the A380, with 60 in its fleet and 81 on order.
The aircraft can carry up to 519 passengers at a time and boasts the widest cabin of any aircraft in the world.
At present, Emirates has flown almost 38 million passengers on the aircraft and, with the addition of the new Perth route, the airline utilises A380s on flights to 33 destinations globally.
The new Perth service will operate daily, departing Dubai at 02:55 and arriving in Perth at 17:35 on the same day.
The return flight will depart Perth International Airport at 22:10 and arrive in Dubai the next day at 05:25.
