Projects to set up Muscat tourism

Aiming to draw in new visitors, Muscat Arab Tourism Capital has released plans to launch new tourism projects throughout the year.

Coinciding with major celebrations, Tourism Minister’s Office head Yahiah bin Amir al Kiyumi explained this year would be filled with various activities including the launch of a new “automatic guide” that helps visitors uncover the region’s bests, Oman Daily Observer reported.

“This gadget supports several languages and it is really a breakthrough in the field of tourism guidance,” the Tourism Minister’s Office head explained.

As well the tourism ministry is hoping to launch new information centers to assist visitors across the Sultanate while the inauguration of climbing at Bandar Al Khairan will commence from December this year.

Other initiatives include the launch of the cellphone tourism map from October this year as well as development of world-class tourism infrastructure from hospitals, roads to communication services and shopping malls.

“Such attention to tourism as an element of civilisation stems from the keenness accorded by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to the national tourism industry and to preserve its outstanding landmarks,” he concluded.
