The construction of a new convention and exhibition centre in Oman will aid in luring MICE visitors to the ‘Jewel of Arabia’.

The Sultanate of Oman will showcase national developments and projected works at AIME in Melbourne this week, to boost awareness of the meetings and incentives opportunities available.

The Oman Convention an Exhibition Centre, due to open in 2015, will play host to a variety of international, national and regional events and exhibitions in support of a growing MICE market.

In a milestone year for Oman tourism, the nation’s capital, Muscat was named in National Geographic and Lonely Planet as a top ten must-see destination for 2012.

“We are overwhelmed by the amount of requests we have had from Australian and New Zealand buyers to meet with our Hotels and Destination Management companies,” Oman Tourism’s Australian country manager, Mona Tannous said.

Additionally Oman is featuring reduced tourism visa fees, the construction of a new international airport and a further four domestic hubs, scheduled for completion between 2014 and 2016.

“We welcome everyone to visit us at AIME stand (3432) and find some time to talk to the various delegates.

“We will also be working towards an invitation-only MICE famil in late 2012,” Ms Tannous said.
