Seven personal travel managers recently visited Turkey thanks to the support of Qatar Airways and the Globus family of brands. This was TravelManagers ninth exclusive Fam Trip since dedicated Fam Trips began in October 2009. Executive General Manager from TravelManagers, Mandy Scotney, was also on the trip as were representatives from each of the two host companies, Adrian Martin, Sales Executive for Qatar Airways and Melinda Robilliard, Regional Sales Manager Victoria for the Globus family of brands. Ms Scotney says the exclusive element allows their personal travel managers to make the most of the educational.
“TravelManagers has a culture of sharing and supporting each other so the seven personal travel managers worked extremely well together, discussing ways to sell Turkey to their customers as well as sharing their knowledge with the others when they returned home.”
The educational comprised of eight days touring in Turkey from Istanbul via Gallipoli, Canakkale, Troy, Izmir, Kusadasi, Pamukkale, Konya and Goreme to Cappadocia.
“This allowed our personal travel managers to experience the first seven days of Cosmos Tours Grand Tour of Turkey which lasts for 13 days. We are experiencing a significant increase in people wanting touring so to be able to speak about it firsthand is immensely valuable.”
Katy Hurd from Mt Eliza in Victoria says Gallipoli was a highlight.
“I believe many Australians see Gallipoli as a ‘must see’ destination given our war history. It didn’t disappoint and I feel privileged to be able to speak about it firsthand to my clients.”
From Cappadocia the group travelled via Ankara on day eight to Doha where they spent a night experiencing the stunning W Hotel before returning to Australia. Of the seven personal travel managers, five were from Victoria, one from New South Wales and one from Queensland.

Ms Robilliard remarked that the Globus family of brands is involved in a number of educational trips and that the TravelManagers’ team stood out.
“In order to qualify for this trip each personal travel manager had to complete training on both Globus/Cosmos and Qatar Airways and their knowledge was superb. They were hugely interested in the detail of our products and the other destinations we are trying to encourage. I was impressed with the way TravelManagers structured the trip selection, combining knowledge based training with a sales incentive. I felt it was immensely beneficial for our company, we love working with TravelManagers.”
Ms Scotney says that the dedicated educational trips are just one approach to continually up-skilling their personal travel managers.
“We dedicate an immense amount of our resources on our education programme and we simply can’t do this without extremely good relationships with our preferred suppliers such as Qatar Airways and Globus/Cosmos. It will continue to be a focus for us as the results just keep coming through increased sales, awards and interest in TravelManagers from other consultants who aspire to manage their own clientele and maximise their earning capacity.”
